EWCNM Alumni Spotlight

Debra Grubb, A.P.
Debra took advantage of every opportunity for extended education in college. She advanced her studies on a college trip to study at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Hang Zhou, China, and she completed a clinical externship at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital , where she treated stroke patients and participated in rehabilitation of post-injury and post-surgical recovery patients. She has several certificates for study in CAM therapies and today she treats a wide range of conditions including injuries, Parkinson's, diabetes,
Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.
She feels her keys to success involve community networking, consistency, her location, her continued commitment to education, and her bedside manner with patients. "Patients today are under a lot of stress and value the practitioner who spends time listening to them one on one. They want the personal time." Debra does lectures at the local golf clubs and in her
community. She has developed a health conscious patient base who even book their appointments with her up to a year out! To her word of mouth has been most important but community networking is a vital component of that.
"The thing I have to tell practitioners is that only they are responsible for their success. School gives them the key but if they are not consistent with their practice by being there
daily, lecturing regularly, answering calls, not going on long vacations when they start, and increasing their education, then they will not be successful." She goes on to note, "you simply get back what you put in!"
