OUR CAMPUS
Located on over 2 acres in Sarasota, Florida, the East West College of Natural Medicine is fortunate to have one of the finest Oriental Medical facilities in the United States. The College resides in a two story, 14,000 sq. ft. building that includes our academic, clinic, and administrative facilities. With high ceilings, large aquariums and spacious areas, students and patients are greeted with a nurturing yet professional environment. By applying the principles of Feng Shui, the building naturally provides a calm and peaceful atmosphere in which to learn. The College has four large classrooms that can be expanded to hold seminars for up to 120 people. There is ample on-site parking for our staff, students, and patients. The East West College of Natural Medicine is located on "college row" with three other leading universities nearby.
Library
The East West College of Natural Medicine Library & Research Center maintains a growing collection of acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbology, and alternative medicine literature. With over 2500 volumes, the print collection is supplemented by multi-media materials, professional journals and electronic resources. The library web site, www.ewclibrary.org, provides access to the library catalog, as well as links to e-journals, databases and community libraries. Constantly growing, the web site is intended to be the first stop for students, faculty and alumni seeking Traditional Chinese and alternative medicine information. The Library is equipped with computers with Internet access for students to search the library's online catalog, access health information, or to complete assignments. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the entire college. Desks and comfortable seating are available for students to study in a quiet atmosphere. EWCNM also holds a reciprocal agreement with Manatee Community College Library. The EWCNM Library is available to students and faculty during normal work hours. Reference support is provided by a library professional. The Library staff strives to support the academic needs of students and faculty by providing current, relevant and authoritative information.
Student Amenities
In addition to our spacious classrooms, students may gather in the student lounge for meals and socialization. With a casual atmosphere the arrangement is ideal for special student events, and adjoins a multi-use room that is available for Tai Chi, Yoga and recreation. Food service is not currently available, however basic kitchen facilities are provided for student use.
Clinic Facilities
Our clinic has progressively grown in capability and sophistication over the years. A large reception area welcomes patients. Our professional and student clinics service approximately 230 patients a week. The diversity of patients provides a wide range of health conditions and diseases enhancing the student clinical experience. The adjoining clinics have a traditional medical layout which includes 17 treatment/examination rooms of which 6 are dedicated to the student clinic. A private clinic conference room is available for supervisors and students to discuss patient diagnosis and treatments. Handicapped approved rest-room facilities and sufficient wash areas are conveniently located to maintain strict hygiene protocols. Both clinics are outfitted with the standard equipment utilized in the Oriental Medical profession.
Herbal Pharmacy
Located centrally to the student and professional clinic, the herbal pharmacy is complete with over 400 raw herbs and numerous patent formulas. The raw herbs are carefully selected to guarantee that they are organically grown and free of pesticide and preservatives. All students are trained in the herbal dispensary, working with patients to assess, prescribe and prepare formulas under the supervision of our resident pharmacist.
