The College welcomes applications from foreign students. It is recommended that foreign students begin the application procedure 6-12 months prior to the semester in which they seek admission in order to ensure that the admissions committee receives all required materials. In addition to the standard application and admissions process, foreign applicants must also comply with the following policies.
- Two copies of official transcripts must be sent directly from the foreign College verifying the applicant’s undergraduate education. One copy must be sent directly to EWCNM and the second copy directly to an approved translation and evaluation service before the applicant can be considered for admission. Each transcript must bear an official seal of the school. The official translation and evaluation must clearly indicate hours and credits of study showing that the education is equivalent to two years of undergraduate study at the baccalaureate level. EWCNM will assist the prospective student in locating this service upon request.
- Foreign applicants must supply a confidential financial statement showing proof of sufficient funds to meet their tuition and living expenses for at least the first year of their program of study in the U.S. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain a student visa.
- Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Applicants who demonstrate full proficiency in English during the admissions interview, may petition to be exempted from the TOEFL exam. Should they not be proficient in English, a minimum score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
of 550 and at least the currently reported mean score on the Test of Spoken English (TSE) are required for admission. Students who do not demonstrate proficiency in English may be required to participate in English as a Second Language (ESL) program before being considered for admission.
