MEETING CALIFORNIA REQUIREMENTS AT EWC Since the California Acupuncture Board (CAB) has its own laws and regulations governing the practice of acupuncture and does not accept NCCAOM national certification, EWC students who want to sit for the California acupuncture examination must meet all EWC requirements for graduation and complete additional CAB required courses. In addition to the 3,000 hour core curriculum, students take an additional 60 hours of clinic and 215 hours of supplemental didactic course work. These additional courses total 275 hours/16.3 credits and are offered in the last two years of the students tenure at EWC. An additional fee for CAB electives is charged. See our catalog for details. These courses are designed to fulfill CAB requirements; to meet the high standards of EWC; to teach within the scope of practice for the states of Florida and California; and to provide an educational experience for the student that is both academically excellent and clinically relevant. EWCNM is currently CAB approved, and students who have met the additional CAB requirements may sit for the California acupuncture exam.
